The opportunity:

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the UK Commercial Actuarial Reserving team in London. You will be responsible for the output of the quarterly reserving exercise, as well as communicating the results and related insights through to the Head of CI Reserving, the UK Chief Actuary, and the Commercial Insurance business. You will be responsible for mentoring more junior members of the team and working closely with the Head of CI Reserving and the CI LOB Actuaries. You will also work on team-wide tasks such as process improvement, planning, and group reporting.

Using your strong analytical skills and business acumen, you’ll work alongside some of the most talented qualified actuaries, as well as liaising with other areas of the business, including Finance, Claims, and Underwriting.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of Group and regulatory requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Supporting the Head of CI Reserving with reporting and communicating results.
  • Supporting business functions such as Underwriting, Pricing, and Claims.
  • Driving discussions and contributing to the business plan, focusing on loss ratios.
  • Providing technical advice within the Actuarial team and to the wider Finance team when needed.
  • Guiding and supporting team members.
  • Advising Finance, market-facing units, and other functions on reserving and strategic decisions.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified actuary with significant experience in P&C Actuarial, preferably in Commercial Insurance.
  • SQL or other coding experience is desirable, along with familiarity with ResQ.
  • Experience with IFRS17 is a plus.
  • High numeracy and analytical skills are essential.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and professionalism in regulatory compliance.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
