Tasks

We are looking for a creative and experienced Researcher/Writer to join our remote digital video team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Physics, Maths and demonstrable general science knowledge, with experience in research and casting.


You will be responsible for researching interesting and engaging topics for a new audio and video podcast series related to Physics, Maths, Engineering, and other science-related subjects. You will also be responsible for identifying relevant experts with deep knowledge and an ability to communicate with an audience, and proactively reaching out to these people to assess interest and relevance.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Research various topics related to Physics, Maths, Engineering, and more, and propose podcast ideas

  • Source experts in the field to interview or collaborate with, either on-site or virtually

  • Monitor the latest research, scientific discoveries and advancements in the field and identify potential new topics for the podcast

  • Develop a schedule of episodes for the new podcast, identifying the subject matter and target guests, and drafting the key story beats to each episode

  • Focus on accuracy and engaging storytelling, going extremely deep in research to trace stories back to scientific papers and original sources

  • Stay up to date on new research, scientific discoveries and advancements in the field and incorporate them into video scripts


Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Maths, Engineering, or a related field

  • Excellent research, reading comprehension, and fact-checking skills

  • Proven experience in long-form or feature science communication, ideally with knowledge of science YouTube or Podcast content

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

  • Experience working with talent and casting for video and/or audio projects

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality content that meets the standards of the Veritasium YouTube channel

  • Passionate about educating and inspiring others about Physics and science in general
