Job summary

Control Risks is hiring a Researcher in London to join the Online Threat Intelligence (OTI) team. You will conduct OSINT/SOCMINT research to support a complex threat intelligence programme and deliver concise written analysis for bespoke assessments.

Essential qualifications include practical OSINT knowledge, strong writing, and the ability to follow leads to produce timely intelligence. Degree-level qualifications and OSINT credentials are preferred, with a collaborative, independent work style.

  • Develop sources and capabilities to collect and analyse information for the team.
  • Deliver clear written analysis to support high-quality bespoke assessments.
  • Communicate to peer review intelligence outputs and enhance final deliverables.

Job description

Thanks to continued growth, we are hiring for a Researcher to join our Online Threat Intelligence (OTI) team in London. As the Researcher you will conduct open-source intelligence research to support a complex threat intelligence programme.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Research and information gathering
  • Gather information on individuals and groups posing a threat to our clients and their assets through open-source intelligence (OSINT) and social media intelligence (SOCMINT) analysis.
  • When tasked, conduct research on specific topics to contribute to bespoke threat assessments.
  • Research new sources of information and develop capabilities to collect and analyse information in support of the team’s mission.
Consulting responsibilities
  • Deliver clear and concise written analysis to contribute to the production of high-quality bespoke threat assessments.
  • Communicate effectively to conduct peer review of intelligence outputs to support and enhance the quality of final deliverables.
Essential
  • Practical knowledge of open-source intelligence collection and threat analysis
  • Ability to prepare concise written reports with strong attention to detail
  • Experience in directing, collecting and analysing information, including following leads, in order to produce timely and actionable intelligence.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of additional languages preferable
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Open source intelligence qualifications preferable.
  • Clear, committed and delivers on what is required in role and strives to exceed expectations. Shows drive and determination to achieve high standards.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative context.
  • Uses own knowledge and experience to make sound judgements.
  • Seeks to deliver work of the highest quality.
