Job summary

University of Exeter is seeking a Research Technician on a full-time fixed-term contract (Oct 2026–Mar 2028) to support a BBSRC-funded programme in infection biology using Galleria mellonella. You will maintain insect lines, perform infection and molecular biology steps, and assist genome editing workflows in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Genetics or Microbiology or related discipline.
• Experience in a biological research environment and commitment to data quality.
• Organised, detail-focused, able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain wild-type, transgenic and genome-edited Galleria lines for experiments.
• Contribute to laboratory operations and infectious/molecular biology workflows.
• Assist with transgenic and genome-editing workflows and generate high-quality data.
• Develop innovative methodologies and help deliver project objectives.
• Support GMRC activities: training, protocol development, workshops and public engagement.
