About Us

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research Technician to work within the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, a division of the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience from King’s College London based in Guy’s Campus.

About The Role

This Research Technician (RT) role will join a Wellcome Early Career Award-funded project focusing on the influence of early-life experiences (ELE) in the shaping of cortical ensembles. The work will be performed in Prof. Beatriz Rico’s lab under the guidance of Dr. Maria J Conde-Dusman at the Centre of Developmental Neurobiology, King’s College London. The post holder will support experimental work towards advancing our understanding of the cellular mechanisms linking early-life experiences with adult behavioural performance. They will conduct experimental work to characterize for the first time these sensory cortical ensembles, the identity of the engaged cells and that of those governing their activity and function.

This is a full time post, and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria

  • BSc in Life Sciences OR or near to completion
  • Minimum 3-months of experience working in a research laboratory.
  • Strong background in Neuroscience.
  • Demonstrated experience in histology and immunohistochemistry.
  • Demonstrated experience with confocal microscopy.
  • Proficiency in Imaris for cell reconstruction and protein intensity analysis.
  • Some experience with the software for statistics analysis Graphpad.
  • Excellent time-management and organization skills.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of molecular and cellular neuroscience.
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research across neurobiology and Omics biology.
  • Some experience with R programming language.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator for figure preparation.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment as well as independently.

Grade and Salary: £34,179 - £35,805 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
