Job description

Quorn Foods & Marlow Ingredients are delighted to be recruiting for a Research Technician to join our Fermentation Development Centre at our facility in Billingham.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Do you have an interest in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology? Are you passionate about healthy, sustainably produced food?

Helping to design, prepare and run experiments that assist us to understand the Mycoprotein production process, you'll demonstrate an ability to to follow defined SOP's to complete both routine analytical and experimental tasks such as running HPLC, rheological analysis, making biological growth media, preparing fermenters and calibrating equipment.

Furthermore, you will also independently design and execute small scale projects, feeding back data which assists our team of scientists with their various portfolios of work and focus.

What Experience You'll Need To Have

• Bachelor's degree in food science/biotechnology/biochemistry or a related scientific field
• Practical knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and techniques
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to follow and adapt protocols precisely
• Effective team player with good communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
• A passion for healthy, sustainable products which are better for our consumers and the planet – you don’t have to be a vegetarian to work for Quorn!

The Recruitment Process

2nd Stage - in-person interview and tour at our facility in Billingham with key stakeholders from our Fermentation Development team
