Job Purpose

To contribute to research in Geospatial Data Science at the College of Science and Engineering, working with Professor Ana Basiri and the Geospatial Data Science Group at the University of Glasgow. The role involves developing geospatial AI tools, conducting world-leading research, supervising students, and disseminating findings through conferences and publications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Investigate and develop generative geospatial AI and Large Language Models for geospatial data (GeoAI).
  2. Develop innovative GeoAI solutions by integrating geospatial data with APIs like GPT, Codex, etc., to automate data processing and generate insights.
  3. Study and adapt existing Large Language Models through fine-tuning and integration into software projects.
  4. Apply relevant techniques including prompt engineering and data transformation.
  5. Collaborate with the Geospatial Data Science Team and external partners across industry, government, and third sectors.
  6. Enhance research profile through publications, impact, and esteem indicators.
  7. Present research at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  8. Support FAIR principles by making data and code repositories accessible and reproducible.
  9. Pursue personal and professional development aligned with career goals.
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned by the PI.

Knowledge/Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in relevant discipline, with experience in computer science or related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of AI foundations, prompt engineering, data transformation, and model fine-tuning.
  • Deep understanding of APIs like OpenAI's offerings and their application to geospatial data tasks.

Skills

  • Research creativity and ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Experience

  • Track record of publishing in relevant fields.

Terms and Conditions
