We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our Paediatric/neonatal research team.
In order to develop the necessary specialist research skills required of this post the successful applicant will complete the Research and Development training programme. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be reliable, hardworking and work well within a team. They will be expected to demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show a keen interest in the future development of the profession and paediatric research.
Whilst previous experience in clinical research would be an advantage, applications are welcomed from candidates with solid nursing experience who can show evidence of continuing professional development and a willingness to learn.
Candidates must have a current NMC registration to continue with the application.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
The post holder will work predominantly with paediatric/Neonatal research studies.
The post holder will work collaboratively with leading principal investigators, the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide an opportunity for patients to participate in research studies. The Research Sister/Charge nurse will lead complex studies and manage a caseload of their own together with supporting other studies within the bounds of their registration. They will be expected to participate in the recruitment of patients into clinical research, including clinical trials of drugs and new interventions within set time limits. When working on clinical trials he/she will monitor the patients and observe for side effects reporting according to set protocols.
An important aspect of the role is the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies. Therefore, the post holder will require excellent documentation, organisational and time management skills.
The post holder will work in conjunction with other team members ensuring all research undertaken within the department safeguards the well-being of the participants and is conducted within the research governance framework.
