Our R&D team is at the forefront of developing an innovative diagnostic platform for both farm and companion animals. The lab-based team plays a critical role in turning scientific innovation into products that improve the lives of animals worldwide.

We are looking for a Research Scientist to join our growing team in Dundee, where you\'ll work at the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. Working on-site, you\'ll collaborate closely with our global R&D and PD team to develop new diagnostic tools that make a real difference.

What You\'ll Do

As a Research Scientist at MI:RNA, you will conduct experiments that push the boundaries of veterinary diagnostics, analyse biological data to find new insights, and help translate scientific discoveries into practical diagnostic solutions that veterinarians use worldwide.

Your Daily Work

Sample Collection and Preparation:

• Collect and prepare biological samples
• Develop and refine preparation protocols

Molecular Biology Research:

• Conduct molecular biology assays using PCR and other diagnostic techniques
• Use advanced laboratory equipment (thermocyclers, centrifuges, etc.) to analyse biological samples
• Turn complex data into clear insights that could change how we diagnose animal diseases

Equipment and Technical Work:

• Maintain and optimise laboratory equipment to ensure reliable, high-quality results
• Troubleshoot technical issues and work with the Laboratory Manager to solve complex problems

Documentation and Analysis:

• Record your findings in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) that support product development
• Follow strict quality standards to ensure your research can be replicated and trusted

Safety and Standards:

• Follow laboratory safety protocols when handling biological and chemical materials
• Keep laboratory conditions at the highest standards for accurate scientific work

Quality Assurance:

• Take part in quality checks that ensure research meets scientific standards
• Help create and test new protocols that advance veterinary diagnostic methods

Laboratory Management:

• Manage laboratory supplies and reagents to keep research projects running smoothly
• Organise inventory systems and order supplies when needed

What We\'re Looking For

Education: Bachelor\'s degree (or higher) in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related life sciences. PhD but not essential

Experience: 1-3 years of laboratory experience (recent graduates welcome to apply)
