We are seeking a team lead for our Knowledge and Semantics team within Defence Innovation and Technology. Our Data and Decision Support Capability includes teams working in reinforcement learning, NLP, knowledge graphs, LLM applications, computer vision, AI for RF and EW, sonar, and acoustics.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on data science projects for defence, security, and commercial clients, as well as internal AI initiatives. There are opportunities to maintain academic links and develop research areas of interest.
Ideal candidates are adaptable, enthusiastic, and motivated, with experience leading research teams in NLP, LLM, text-mining, knowledge graphs, or graph ML. A track record of successful proposals and funding in the Defence sector is essential. Proficiency in Python and ML libraries is required, along with strong communication skills and a solid academic background.
Responsibilities include proposing and leading research, delivering technical projects, developing prototypes, managing tasks to high standards, presenting results, communicating with stakeholders, and mentoring junior staff.
Security clearance is required; candidates must have the right to work in the UK and be eligible for SC clearance.
