Job Description:

Are you ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible in Hamiltonian simulation? We are looking for a Research Scientist to improve Hamiltonian simulation using symmetry and representation-theoretic methods. You will work on developing new theories and algorithms for Hamiltonian simulation, with a focus on implementation and quantum circuit design, aiming to run these algorithms on our hardware.

In this role, you will be expected to conduct novel research, publish scientific papers related to your work and create novel IP. You will also implement these algorithms in our next-generation quantum software stack. We seek candidates with experience in Hamiltonian simulation methods such as Trotterization, Linear Combination of Unitaries (LCU), and Quantum Singular Value Transform (QSVT), as well as expertise in applying quantum algorithms for representation theory, such as the Quantum Schur Transform.

If you are interested in reducing the computational cost of Hamiltonian simulation for molecular and condensed matter systems on digital quantum computers through the use of symmetry, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and discovery of new algorithms for Hamiltonian simulation
  • Publishing novel research
  • Presenting work at conferences
  • Implementing these algorithms at the quantum circuit level
  • Contributing to our quantum software stack
  • Collaborating with internal teams
Key Requirements:
  • Knowledge of quantum computing and quantum algorithms for Hamiltonian simulation.
  • Understanding of how symmetry can be utilized in Hamiltonian simulation.
  • Experience in compiling quantum algorithms
  • Proficiency in developing software with Python.
  • A strong track record of conducting and publishing novel research.
Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Quantum Computing, Quantum Algorithms, Quantum Chemistry, Condensed Matter, Lattice Gauge Theory, Representation Theory, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of representation theory in quantum algorithms.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git).
  • Proficiency in the Rust programming language.
  • Familiarity with SU(2) spin symmetry in Quantum Chemistry/Condensed Matter.
  • Knowledge of the Unitary Group Approach for the many-electron wavefunction
What is in it for you?

Working alongside a highly talented team, with leading names in the quantum computing industry. We offer a highly competitive package, equity, 28 days of paid holiday (in addition to public holidays), a workplace pension, a positive approach to flexible working and enhanced parental and adoption benefits.
