Job summary

Accord Healthcare is seeking a Research Scientist to design, optimise, and scale downstream purification processes for therapeutic biologics, including biosimilars, spanning early to late-stage development.

The role involves platform process development, process intensification (including continuous purification), and ensuring robust, scalable, compliant processes with regulatory standards. Collaboration with global partners is key.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant discipline.
• Hands-on chromatography systems experience (e.g., ÄKTA).
• Proficiency with DoE tools, Unicorn, JMP.
• Experience in biologics or biosimilar development is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret analytical data (HPLC, CE-SDS, SEC).
• Strong knowledge of downstream bioprocessing and protein purification.
• Understanding of CQAs, process optimisation, and scale-up.
• Familiarity with GMP and ICH guidelines.

Research Scientist - Downstream Process Development

Role:Full-time, permanent

Location: Harrow, West London

The Role

The DSP Scientist will design, optimise, and scale, downstream purification processes for therapeutic biologics, including monoclonal antibodies and proteins, supporting biosimilar development and commercialisation. The role spans early- and late-stage process development, including process characterisation, scale-up, and technology transfer.

It also focuses on platform process development, process intensification (including continuous purification), and viral safety strategies, ensuring processes are robust, scalable, and compliant with regulatory and quality requirements.

Additionally, the role supports product lifecycle management activities and contributes to technical discussions with global partners.

The Person

• Degree educated in relevant discipline
• Hands-on experience with chromatography systems (e.g., ÄKTA) and filtration platforms.
• Proficiency with DoE tools, Unicorn, and statistical/data analysis software like JMP.
• Experience in biologics or biosimilar development is advantageous.
