Job summary

FUJIFILM Biotechnologies is seeking a Research Scientist in Billingham to execute experimental programs that develop and characterize upstream microbial processes for target molecules, with emphasis on gene design, DNA cloning, and strain construction.

You will generate high-quality data, maintain rigorous documentation per PD quality procedures, and collaborate in cross-functional teams while supporting tech transfer between development and manufacturing sites, all within a cGMP-compliant

Qualifications

• A relevant degree (e.g., Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical/Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology) or 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience in microbial upstream operations (shake flasks, bioreactors/fermenters, media/feed prep, aseptic technique).
• Familiarity with process development workflows, data recording, and documentation to quality standards.
• Working knowledge of cGMP principles and strong EHS mindset.
• Clear, concise communication skills; ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams and present results.
• Experience supporting tech transfer between development and manufacturing or across sites.
