Research Project Support Officer in Marine Environmental History/Marine Historical Ecology, Bangor

This role is based at Bangor University, located on the shores of the Menai Strait in North Wales, within the School of Ocean Sciences. The position involves supporting a UKRI-funded project focused on marine historical ecology, specifically working with historical records and scientific data related to herring fisheries.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Gathering and managing data from historical and modern sources, including conducting interviews with stakeholders.
  2. Contributing to research outputs, publications, and public engagement activities.
  3. Administering aspects of the research project, such as data management, organizing meetings and workshops, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • Degree or relevant experience in history, humanities, sciences, or related fields.

Experience and Skills

  • Interest in historical ecology and experience working with diverse data types.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with good communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office; GIS skills are desirable.

Additional Information

  • Willingness to work cooperatively across disciplines and with stakeholders.
  • Position is for 24 months, with a Grade 6 salary.
