Job description

Applications are sought for a Research Programme Manager to support the coordination and development of infection research at the University of St Andrews.

The postholder will work closely with senior academic leads in Medicine and with colleagues across the University to coordinate infection-related research activity, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, support the development of strategic funding opportunities, coordinate engagement activities, and help build a visible University-wide community around infection research.

The role will contribute to scientific programme development across areas including infection biology, antimicrobial resistance, pathogen genomics, diagnostics, data science, technology development, global health, health inequalities, pandemics and health security.

The successful applicant will have experience of research programme coordination, project management or research development within a university, health, public sector, charitable, funding or research-intensive environment. They will have excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work across disciplinary and institutional boundaries. Knowledge of infection research, global health, health data, biomedical science, public health, policy, or interdisciplinary research would be extremely advantageous, and the successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in a relevant area.

The post is available for 36 months starting December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
