Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Research Programme Manager to manage the establishment and delivery of flagship research and education centres and facilities within Barts Health NHS Trust and across North East London, where applicable.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills, experience working across large multidisciplinary teams, and expertise in implementing and managing projects and clinical research. The goal is to accelerate health and care transformation by connecting research to frontline care.

We are open to exploring secondments and flexible working arrangements. The role will require regular attendance at research sites across North East London and participation in some national meetings.

The Research Programme Manager Will
  • Oversee all aspects of establishing and delivering the National Institute for Health and Care Research North East London Commercial Research Delivery Centre, Academic Centre for Healthy Ageing, NIHR Clinical Research Facility, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Lead in mapping approval pathways with R&D and support departments across partner organisations to align research operations across North East London.
  • Collaborate with centre and facility partners to establish models for clinical research setup and delivery, including site processes, support departments, research interests, capabilities, and training needs.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and guidance documents for centre and facility operations.
  • Ensure project governance plans and structures are in place.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Create detailed project plans to monitor progress against set deadlines and targets.
  • Assign responsibilities, set deadlines, and manage team tasks.
  • Report and escalate risks and issues as they arise.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including governance and quality records.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a communication link between divisions, clinical services, research management, and training leads.
