Job summary

The University of Cambridge, Department of Medicine, invites applications for a Research Professor in Bacteriology to build an internationally recognised programme and strengthen Cambridge's leadership in infection and antimicrobial research.

Based within CITIID, the appointee will lead a comprehensive research agenda, secure significant external funding, and collaborate across Cambridge and with partners including NHS microbiology.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant subject or demonstrate equivalent standing.
• Clinically qualified candidates must hold appropriate professional registration, a licence to practise and specialist registration in a relevant field, or equivalent in another country.
• Outstanding record of research leadership with experience securing external funding.
• Mentoring researchers and students and contributing to an inclusive research culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead an internationally recognised research programme in bacteriology.
• Secure significant external funding and manage large-scale collaborative projects.
• Collaborate with CITIID, the Department of Medicine and School of Clinical Medicine.
• Mentor researchers and students across the group.
