Job summary

Northeastern University London (NU London) is seeking a Research Operations Manager to support the university’s research and knowledge exchange portfolio across the full lifecycle.

The role covers pre-award support, non-financial post-award project management, and research ethics, integrity, and contracts, ensuring projects are well-planned, compliant and delivered to funder expectations.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience of non-financial post-award research project management in a UK HE environment.
• Ability to coordinate complex projects ensuring compliance, timely delivery and high-quality outputs.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating research contracts including IP considerations and data sharing.
• Good financial literacy and comfort working with budget forecasting and costings.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-award support to academic colleagues, advising on eligibility, budget structure and proposal coherence.
• Lead non-financial post-award project management including milestone tracking and funder reporting (non-financial).
• Support Principal Investigators in establishing newly awarded projects, partner onboarding and consortium coordination.
• Act as the main contact for day-to-day queries from funders and collaborators.
• Promote best practice in project governance; develop templates, checklists and guidance for post-award lifecycle.
• Support research data management including adherence to data-sharing and FAIR data requirements.
• Coordinate research ethics approval processes and contracts, escalating complex legal/IP matters as needed.
