A leading Public Sector employer based in Belfast is recruiting a Research Officer specialising in Social Justice and Equalities. This is a great opportunity to join one of Northern Ireland's top employers on an initial interim contract basis.

About the role

Research Officers produce non-partisan, objective, and evidence-based research, working directly with Assembly Members and Committees.

This role focuses on Social Justice and Equalities, including research related to age, disability, race, gender equality, poverty, and social mobility.

About you

Honours Degree (minimum 2:1) or equivalent, with understanding of public policy development and analysis.

At least 2 years post-degree experience in:

  • Conducting objective, evidence-based research on social justice/equality issues, including data collation, validation, and visualization (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Producing and presenting research briefings on social justice/equality issues to decision-makers

What you'll do

  • Scope research requirements with MLAs, Committees, and senior secretariat
  • Retrieve and synthesize information from various sources, including online databases
  • Deliver high-quality, impartial research and analysis on social justice issues
  • Produce research papers, legislative briefings, and blog posts
  • Present research to committees in public sessions
  • Facilitate public events such as the KESS seminar series
  • Develop links across government and external research communities
  • Contribute to the development of RaISe and improve service delivery
  • Perform other duties within the research scope of RaISe
  • Adhere to the Assembly's Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work policies
  • Perform additional duties as required by the Assembly Commission
