Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a Research Officer to join our Research Team in Swindon, supporting high-quality research across the Trust and advising on research activity, governance and how findings inform decision-making.

This fixed-term contract (up to 12 months) involves coordinating the research proposal review process, managing our internal funding scheme, supporting the PhD cohort and training activities, and building relationships with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in a higher education institution or research organisation.
• Knowledge and understanding of the academic research sector, including research funding and landscape outside the Trust.
• Strong ability to analyse and use both quantitative and qualitative data.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and work independently or in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communications, including influencing and negotiating with stakeholders.
• Excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills.
• Experience of carrying out or supporting academic research.
• Experience of organising events and presenting to audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support good research practice and governance across the Trust.
• Coordinate the research proposal review process and internal funding scheme.
• Support the PhD cohort and training/development activity.
• Build relationships with colleagues and external partners; lead on research communications and reporting.
• Ensure research information is well managed and accessible.
