Job description

Band 6 Nuclear Medicine Research Post

A vacancy has arisen for a suitably qualified healthcare professional to work at band 6 in the Radiation Oncology Research department supporting our nuclear medicine research portfolio. The post would be suitable for a Nurse, or a Nuclear Medicine trained Radiographer, Technologist, or Physicist. Based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, this is a unique opportunity to join an enthusiastic and highly motivated team providing clinical trial support in Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.

Your role will be to support clinical trials involving Nuclear Medicine imaging and Molecular Radiotherapy at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. You will work within a team of 3 radiographers and 2 clinical trial coordinators that also supports external beam and brachytherapy research, maintaining close links with the Nuclear Medicine and Medical Physics departments. Your responsibilities include all aspects of clinical research, from scoping new trials, setup, costing, and feasibility assessments, to patient recruitment, data collection, quality assurance, and follow-up. The clinical trials include multi-centre commercial and non-commercial studies, as well as locally-led research projects in imaging and therapy.

The research practitioner at The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RSCH) will support the setup and delivery of research within the radiation oncology setting. This involves screening and monitoring patients during studies, assisting with clinical investigations, and ensuring accurate data collection and documentation. The role requires collaborative work with all teams to provide excellent care for patients undergoing cancer treatments.
