Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Support GD Fundraising and Field Operations teams with funding bids by engaging with research partners and project funders, and develop project monitoring and evaluation plans, including indicator selection, sampling techniques, and evaluation design.
- Design quantitative surveys and qualitative interview guides, perform cognitive testing and piloting of data collection instruments.
- Collaborate with Field Operations to develop and support ongoing monitoring and evaluation, and initiate evaluations of non-experimental GD projects.
- Perform data quality checks for ongoing GD internal research and project evaluations.
- Conduct primary data analysis for internal and externally funded non-RCT projects, providing statistical and analytical support to Field Operations teams.
- Write high-quality reports and support stakeholders by reviewing reports critically.
- Conduct literature reviews and stay updated on relevant research findings.
- Assist in maintaining GD’s research knowledge databases.
- Participate in administrative tasks related to research projects, such as meetings, research sessions, report dissemination, and document management.
Core competencies and experiences:
- Master's degree in Economics with coursework in econometrics, impact evaluation, and economic development.
- At least 3 years of research and development experience, preferably in countries where GiveDirectly operates.
- Strong understanding of economic development and poverty reduction drivers.
- Experience with quantitative research methods and tools (R, Stata, SurveyCTO). Experience with experimental/quasi-experimental designs is a plus.
- Experience in qualitative research, including design, interviews, focus groups, and analysis. Integration of qualitative and quantitative methods is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, both verbal and written.
- Research stakeholder management skills, including evaluation design, risk prediction, and timely delivery.
- Project management experience in large-scale projects, risk management, stakeholder communication, and tracking systems.
- Ability to synthesize literature and summarize complex research into clear, straightforward language.
- Alignment with core competencies: emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and inclusivity. Experience with low-income and marginalized communities is encouraged.
Compensation:
Competitive salary and benefits, aligned with experience. Salary benchmarks:
- United States: $81,400
- UK: £55,600
- Kenya: $48,000
This role is fully remote. Salary estimates for other countries will be provided during hiring.
