R&D Microbiologist - Technical Manager

We’re supporting a growing, innovation-led business in the animal nutrition sector. With a strong foundation and ambitious plans for the future, they’re now looking for a hands-on R&D Technical Manager to lead the development of their forage product range. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape technical strategy, drive product innovation, and make a real impact within a small but dynamic team.

About the Role

This role offers the chance to take ownership of a key product area within the company’s R&D portfolio. You’ll provide technical leadership, support cross-functional teams, and oversee development projects from concept to validation. There’s also scope to contribute to product strategy, support customer-facing teams, and grow external collaborations, including academia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical development and continuous improvement of the forage product portfolio.
  • Guide internal teams and provide technical training and support to regional specialists.
  • Manage and contribute to research projects, trials, and product validation.
  • Maintain and develop product specifications in line with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve performance issues and ensure product consistency.
  • Support marketing and sales with technical insights and materials.
  • Represent the business at relevant conferences and industry events to maintain visibility and professional development.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in microbiology, biological sciences, animal science or a related field (PhD preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in scientific research and experimental design.
  • An understanding of forage conservation or ruminant nutrition is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex science into practical applications.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to lead and influence across teams.

Why This Role?

  • Opportunity to shape technical direction and contribute to strategic growth.
  • Be part of a growing business with real momentum.
  • Build your profile within the industry.
  • Work cross-functionally in a supportive and ambitious environment.

If you're a technically curious and driven individual looking to step into a strategic, hands-on role within a fast-evolving sector, we’d love to hear from you.
