Job summary

University of Sheffield invites applications for a Research and Innovation Fellow in Manufacturing Pathways, Test and Supply Chain within the CHIMES² CTO Office. You will shape landscape analyses and roadmaps for HI packaging and testing, with a focus on knowledge infrastructure and international collaboration.

The role offers a four-year term, scope to build an independent research identity, and opportunities to engage with national and international forums while delivering actionable outputs

Qualifications

• Hold or be close to completing a PhD in electrical and electronic engineering, materials science or manufacturing engineering with domain expertise in HI packaging, test or supply-chain analysis.
• Experience with back-end EDA flows and cross-die sign-off for HI systems; familiarity with packaging architectures and known-good-die test methodologies.
• Ability to synthesise complex technical intelligence into policy briefs, roadmaps, and white papers for national programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead landscape analyses mapping HI needs for mature devices, circuits and interposers across EDA capabilities.
• Develop physical implementation roadmaps and gap analyses benchmarking against industry roadmaps.
• Represent CHIMES² externally at forums and contribute to Design Commons outputs.
• Collaborate with Sheffield teams to align research with demonstrator programs and capability maps.
