The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

The Research Funding Officer role (Maternity Cover) provides comprehensive pre-award support to LSHTM’s three academic faculties. The posts will work within a small team responsible for supporting coordination, budget development and submission of research funding applications.

This is a busy and varied role requiring the post holders to:

  • Provide advice on the costing and pricing of standard research applications
  • Develop research budgets alongside academic and professional services staff
  • Work with LSHTM’s Research Management System, Worktribe and a range of research funder’s online submission systems.
  • Ensure funding applications are in line with University’s agreed policies and procedures
  • Work to external and internal deadlines across a range of projects.

You should be educated to a degree level or equivalent, or equivalent work-related relevant experience. You will have experience of working in a finance or professional service role. Good organisational and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to prioritise workload and work flexibly to support a range of activities with competing deadlines and timescales. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed-term for 1 year.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,432 - £45,097 per annum pro-rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
