A leading academic institution seeks a Research Fellow for a five-year project aimed at promoting health benefits through low-carbon transport solutions. The position requires a relevant PhD and experience in systematic reviewing, project management, and data analysis. Candidates nearing PhD completion may apply, with a supportive environment promoting flexible work arrangements.
We wish to appoint a Research Fellow to work within an exciting five-year transdisciplinary, multicentre Hub which aims to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon transport solutions that maximise health co-benefits and reduce health inequalities.
The Healthy Low-carbon Transport Hub (LHTH) has been established to lead research into maximising the health benefits of low-carbon transport. The role will support transdisciplinary working and evidence synthesis, contributing to the development of a transdisciplinary conceptualisation of Healthy Transport Systems and a new assessment framework for planning and transportation schemes.
The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team to manage the day-to-day running of the research. Responsibilities include: systematic reviewing and evidence synthesis, project management (coordination and reporting), maintaining high-quality research procedures, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, developing transdisciplinary ways of working, writing reports and publications, presenting at conferences, and supporting grant, ethics, and research governance applications.
This is a joint post between the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering at the University of Southampton. The post holder will be hybrid-based at both the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education and the Department of Civil, Maritime and Environmental Engineering.
You will have a relevant PhD or equivalent research-related qualifications in a health/public health/epidemiology/healthcare/economics/transport engineering, or social science-related subject, with experience in systematic reviewing, evidence synthesis, and data skills. Experience in inter/transdisciplinary working is highly desirable. Applications from candidates working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD will be considered. The title of Research Fellow will be awarded upon PhD completion; prior to that, the position will be Senior Research Assistant.
