Job summary

Queen's University Belfast invites applications to join Dr Scott Balchin on the EPSRC project “Point-free methods in tensor-triangular geometry.” The position focuses on applying frame and lattice theory to problems in tensor-triangular geometry, with links to stable equivariant homotopy theory, commutative algebra, and representation theory.

The appointment is a fixed-term contract of approximately three years.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in Mathematics, in a field relevant to the project (tensor-triangular geometry, homotopy theory, commutative algebra, or point-free topology).
• Specific research experience in tensor-triangular geometry, homotopy theory, commutative algebra, or point-free topology.
• Ability to develop and disseminate high-quality research for peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Carry out independent research on point-free methods in tensor-triangular geometry.
• Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conferences.
• Collaborate with the project team and contribute to the EPSRC-funded project.
• Contribute to the academic community and advance knowledge in mathematics.
