We are looking for a Research Director and to lead our Europe, Russia and Caspian (ERC) Upstream Research team. Our dedicated oil and gas sector teams are located around the world and deliver research and consulting projects based on our assessment and valuation of thousands of individual assets. Together we work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, operators, investment banks and institutional investors. Main Responsibilities

You will lead a team of around ten analysts and subject matter experts producing world-class commercial data, analytics and insight. Specifically, you will be responsible for the efficient delivery of research and the development of the Europe, Russia and Caspian (ERC) Upstream Research Service. Your focus will be to transform the business, improve efficiency, collaborate effectively with senior colleagues and promote Lens as the premier Upstream solution to our existing and targeted customers. You will foster an open, innovative and dynamic team environment where innovative thinking is encouraged.

You will be able to prioritise what matters to customers and your team. Given your engagement with your network of senior-level customers and contacts, you will understand their business and priorities. Internally, you will ensure team members improve workflow efficiency and the timeliness and quality of deliverables. You will also have the opportunity lead wider projects and new initiatives.

You will work collaboratively as part of the global Upstream Research team and be an integral part of the Upstream Leadership team (URLT) to develop and implement a content strategy identifying and capitalising on commercial opportunities.

You will also work with client management and consulting to generate new research, sales and consulting opportunities.

  • You are an experienced leader of senior colleagues, having developed and led a high performing team within the energy industry. It would be an advantage if you have worked with data and analytics or consulting business. However, this is not essential as we need your industry knowledge and leadership skills most.
  • Your commercial and industry knowledge coupled with your people skills will enable you help define our ambition within the Upstream sector, creating offerings that help solve our customers questions with solutions that embed within their workflows.
  • You can easily identify and size commercial opportunities, as well implement a strategy to increase revenue and market share effectively.
  • You possess sound commercial acumen and have contributed to strategic development within your area, particularly leading through change and business transformation.
  • The people around you recognise your ability to develop others and engage high performers, building an environment in which colleagues thrive and deliver high-quality results. The way in which you work enables you to build effective, collaborative internal relationships and can influence at all levels in the company.
