Job description

The role

The Smart Internet Lab is looking for one highly motivated, enthusiastic researcher, with a passion for non-terrestrial network (NTN) research towards 6G. The targeted research topics include but are not limited to: network architecture design for NTN and terrestrial network (TN) convergence, intelligent traffic steering algorithms between TN and NTN, orchestration of TN/NTN resources for end-to-end performance assurance, and also network resilience through seamless network protection and recovery techniques in integrated TN/NTN environments.

What will you be doing?

You will undertake research on innovative AI/ML solutions and their trustworthiness, and carry out experimental/proof-of-concept implementation work for future telecommunication networks in one or more of the following fields:

  • Novel network architecture design for TN/NTN convergence
  • Intelligent algorithms and mechanisms for context-aware traffic steering between TN and NTN
  • TN/NTN orchestration solutions for end-to-end service assurance and resource efficiency with predictable and unpredictable dynamicity
  • Resilience solutions in integrated TN/NTN environments

You should apply if

You have experience and proven track record of

  • Relevant scientific publications or relevant experience
  • Solid technical background and experiences in communication network protocols
  • Extensive knowledge on network management and control
  • Previous experiences in simulation-based experiments in networking research
  • Strong mathematics background for optimization and analytical modelling of complex systems

Programming languages including C++/Python and script languages
