About the role

The University of Leicester was awarded a Research Excellence Award for £3 million over five years from the British Heart Foundation. Under the leadership of Professor Andre Ng, alongside the 6 Theme Leads, a new Centre of Research Excellence will be developed. The Centre will build on our established world-leading cardiovascular research with three research themes, ‘Discovery’, ‘Interventions’ and ‘Populations’. Working across themes and with many of our Centres of research excellence for diabetes research; artificial intelligence, data analytics and modelling; environmental health and sustainability and ethnic health research demonstrating world leading research will be at the forefront of the Centre’s strategy and growth.

We are seeking a G8 Senior Research Associate to work within the ‘Populations’ theme. The successful Grade 8 candidate will be expected to lead on the planning and delivery of the research programme and oversee research governance.

About you

We seek highly motivated individuals with a PhD or significant equivalent experience in a relevant discipline. You will have a proven track record of delivering research projects on time and will be nationally/internationally respected in your field. You will possess extensive experience in developingand devising research models, theories, techniques and methods, and clear forward plans for sustaining and enhancing the research programme.

Experience in securing research funding and managing budgets is essential if you are expecting to be appointed at Grade 8. Join us intranslating scientific breakthroughs into diagnostic tests, preventions and life-saving treatments for our patients. We do this by creating a collaborative workspace that allows scientists and clinicians to share their findings and deliver research that is relevant to both patients and the professionals who treat them.
