Full-time (37 hrs per week); Fixed-term to 31 July 2026

The SCORES Project (Screening Cognitive Outcomes after Repetitive Exposure to Sub-threshold concussive Events in Sport) is a sport-related brain health initiative supported by the Professional Footballers’ Association. The project investigates the long-term neurocognitive effects of exposure to repetitive head impacts in contact sports, particularly football. This post offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to an innovative and socially impactful study that addresses current gaps in athlete brain health research.

The successful applicant will support ethics submissions, longitudinal data collection and analysis of cognitive and behavioural data, systematic reviews, public and stakeholder engagement, and research dissemination. This is a desk-based post with flexibility for remote working.

We are seeking a candidate with:

  • A PhD in neuroscience, psychology, sport and exercise science, or a related discipline;
  • Experience in research on brain health, longitudinal assessment, and adult participant recruitment;
  • Competence in managing large-scale datasets, conducting mixed-methods analyses, and working independently;
  • Excellent academic writing skills, with experience preparing research for publication;
  • Proficiency in IT and data analysis tools (e.g. R or SPSS), and a clear commitment to research ethics and data protection.

This full-time post is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 July 2026.
