You will work in a well-connected team with world-leading reputations in algae biotechnology. You will use your microalgae cultivation and characterisation skills to provide essential support to the algae biotechnology team. As this role requires generation of algal biomass and its characterisation, it provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in microbial/biochemical engineering.

This role offers you the opportunity to liaise with Industry by playing a key part in delivering biomass specific to requirements for subsequent valorisations. With responsibility for conducting research and communicating with industrial partners, you will add substantial benefit to algae biotechnology research at Sheffield. Educated to PhD level, you will have experience of growing different species of microalgae and associated biochemical characterisation techniques, in particular protein analyses. You will have an ability to assess and organise resources, and plan and progress work activities. As you will be responsible for conducting research and enabling project deliverables to be achieved in a timely manner, experience of adapting your own skills to new circumstances and develop creative approaches to problem solving would be an advantage.

As this role involves growing different species of microalgae to produce biomass, you will also need experience/knowledge of microalgae cultivations and process monitoring. If you are passionate about algae biotechnology, then we would love to hear from you.
