Job summary

Manchester Metropolitan University is launching a new School of Biological and Chemical Sciences and seeks a researcher to develop microfluidic devices for blood typing and detection of viruses in remote environments. The role involves independent research and close collaboration with StreamBio and the project lead.

You will join the Dalton Building team, work with Dr Kirsty Shaw, and engage in industry-led tasks while maintaining strong teamwork and flexibility in a hybrid working setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in microfluidics and/or molecular biology.
  • Ability to design and execute independent research.
  • Strong collaboration across academia and industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new microfluidic devices for blood typing and detection of bloodborne viruses.
  • Collaborate with academic and industry partners to exchange findings.
  • Contribute to a UKDI funded project and disseminate results.
