Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect in children, accounting for almost one third of congenital abnormalities diagnosed prenatally or in infancy. The original NI BabyHearts Study was conducted in 2014 to investigate possible environmental risk and protective factors associated with CHD. This follow-up study aims to explore the impact of preconceptional and antenatal environmental factors on the health, neurodevelopment, and academic achievement of children with CHD, using the BabyHearts cohort aged 6-9 years. The findings will inform clinical care, service provision, preconceptional and antenatal advice, public health policy, and contribute to the evidence base for improving outcomes for children with CHD.
The post holder will collaborate with the research team to investigate this cohort, including recruiting participants from the original cohort and assisting with data collection.
