Job description

Join us at the world-leading CRUK Cambridge Institute! We are a unique department of the University of Cambridge, core-funded by Cancer Research UK's charitable activities. The Narita Laboratory ( https://www.naritalab.com/ ) seeks a skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate for a 3-year fixed-term role.

This project investigates oncogene-induced senescence (OIS) heterogeneity and tumour initiation in mouse livers. We explore gene regulation at a single-cell level and how OIS and tumour-initiating cells impact immune responses (see e.g., Nature 2024 PMID 39112713, Genes Dev. 2025 PMID 40324881)

The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research on the early detection and prevention of primary liver cancer using mouse models and human tissues. Experience in immune phenotyping, flow cytometry, mouse genetics, immunohistochemistry, and (spatial) single-cell gene expression profiling would be advantageous. A liver-focused experience would also be helpful, but not essential.

Applicants must hold or about to receive a PhD in a relevant field.

The ideal candidate will have the capacity for innovation, initiative, and creativity to solve mechanistic biological problems. We value good communication skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.

This position is offered at Grade 7 on the university scale. Interviews are expected to take place in August 2025.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
