Summary

Main Duties
- Collect research data from children with rare neurogenetic syndromes via play-based standardised psychological measures, literature reviews, and research interviews.
- Analyse research data as directed.
- Present research outputs, including drafting parts of academic publications, for example at seminars and as posters.
- Develop or adapt techniques, models and methods to address the study questions.
- Deal with challenges that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines, such as recruitment.
- Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research such as organising group meetings and managing the research group calendar.
- Liaise with NHS Trust, third sector organisations, education organisations to facilitate recruitment.
- Adhere to, and support amendments to, NHS ethical approvals.
- Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines.
- Promote equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture.
Person Specification
- Achieved at least a 2.1 degree in Psychology or closely-related discipline.
- Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques working with children with intellectual disability and their families and related professionals.
- Experience of collecting behavioural data from children.
- Experience working and communicating with people with intellectual disability and/or other clinical populations.
- High level analytical capability.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
- Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader administration processes.
- Contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme and/or specific research project.
- Coordinate own work with others to avoid conflict or duplication of effort.
- Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day-to-day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly.
