About The Role

The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to join a cutting-edge research project aimed at tackling one of today’s most pressing environmental challenges: removing persistent pollutants from water using advanced photocatalytic materials.

  • Innovative Materials Development: Design and optimise carbon nitride-based photocatalysts through doping and membrane integration to enhance their optical efficiency and real-world applicability.
  • Real-World Impact: Evaluate catalyst performance under conditions relevant to wastewater treatment plants, contributing to sustainable water purification technologies.
  • International Collaboration: Work at the University of Bath with a research visit to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, gaining exposure to global research environments.
  • Multidisciplinary Environment: Collaborate with experts in catalysis, membranes, materials science, and reaction engineering.

About You

  • PhD-qualified in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Experienced in catalysis and/or membrane technologies
  • Skilled in materials characterisation and reaction engineering
  • Strong in analytical thinking and problem-solving

This position is offered on a full-time (36.5 hours), fixed term period of 12 months.

As a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year

A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6) with comparable reduction in responsibilities and amendment in job title to Research Assistant, if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position. Applicants will need to be within six months of their course completion date and will be promoted to Research Associate once their PhD has been awarded.
