Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to work within the Translational Radiobiology group and Cancer Research UK Manchester Centre Radiotherapy BioAdaption group.

The challenge for radiotherapy-related research is to find ways of integrating radiobiology, imaging and tissue biomarkers to improve radiotherapy outcomes. This project will develop and validate novel radiomic and genomic biomarkers of tumour response and normal tissue toxicity; combined with real-world evidence to predict outcomes.

The post holder will undertake research and experiments using a broad range of techniques and will work within a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, radiographers, bioinformaticians and physicists. The purpose of the role is to support the translational research for the BioAdaptive clinical trials of radiotherapy in the pelvis. They will prepare deliverables, present the progress of work in technical meetings and participate in the supervision of PhD and MSc students, contribute to the preparation of funding applications, participate in international scientific conferences and prepare high quality scientific publications. The post holder will need a strong eye for detail and to be self-motivated.

This project is funded by the Cancer Research UK Manchester Centre.
