About Us

This is a part-time, short-term role and it will be based at the Research Department of Surgical & Interventional Engineering in the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, King's College London (St Thomas' hospital).

About The Role

The post holder will support Dr Ildar Farkhatdinov to explore recent research developments in the field of robotics and neuro-technology, to engage with relevant research stake-holders and to organise a networking research meeting.

This is a part time post (8.5 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract from 14 July - 18 December 2025

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. PhD qualified in relevant subject area, at or near completion
2. Expertise in robotics
3. Expertise in human haptics, sensorimotor system
4. Experience in conducting research and disseminating it through research publications and presentation
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills
6. Strong organisational and project management skills
7. Experience conducting experimental research on human sensorimotor system involving robotic devices

Desirable criteria

1. Experience in organising research events, conferences
2. Knowledge of UK research in sensorimotor system and robotics
3. Hands-on experience with mechatronic and robotic systems

Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
