We are looking to appoint a highly motivated researcher to join the Business School in our externally funded interdisciplinary research project 'Transdisciplinary Hub to Decarbonise Commissioning and Delivery of Healthcare' (PI Prof M Bhutta, Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex). The vision is to create a world-leading hub to support the NHS to become a low carbon provider of healthcare, that will serve as a model to other health systems. Researchers in the Business School are leading on the policy and implementation components of this work, and the successful applicant will be working closely with colleagues within the Business School and across the hub to conduct primary research and develop social-science informed approaches to translating hub innovations into policy and practice.

You will have specific responsibility for conducting research tasks across all stages of the UKRI/NIHR funded study on policy and implementation work package.

This includes
  • working with colleagues to develop the research design
  • undertaking the literature review
  • liaison with project stakeholders
  • data collection and analysis
  • contributing to reports and outputs
  • research project administration
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject (or close to completion). Your work will be supported by Dr Simon Bishop and Professor Alex Trautrims at the University of Nottingham. The person appointed will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio.

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract until 30 April 2028, available from June 2025.
