About The Role

The Research Associate specialising in deals research in Europe is a key member of a worldwide team entrusted with the research and upkeep of numerous online intelligence services focused on private markets investing. This research associate is expected to be based out of our London HQ.

With a specific emphasis on private equity real estate and infrastructure, the research associate primarily undertakes the following responsibilities:

Research

  • Gathering data from primary and secondary sources to monitor the investment activities of private market investors, contributing to our online data products. This include building relationships with private funds managers and other market participants to collect proprietary data on transactions, as well as monitoring global news sources to extract data and intelligence.
  • Collaborating with external teams to maintain high-quality data curation and ensure stringent quality control measures.
  • Assisting in various research projects, such as contact research, data expansion, and monitoring data quality.
  • Supporting the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of research conducted by PEI's global research team on private market funds and managers.
  • Contributing to efforts to increase the volume of data points tracked by PEI's global research team.
Data & Analysis
  • Becoming expert in how best to interpret and present data in graphical form
  • Contribute to producing presentation decks using PEI’s proprietary data

Key relationships

  • The research associate will collaborate with a group of fellow research associates based in the local office and should proactively establish connections with colleagues from other offices. Additionally, the research associate is encouraged to foster relationships with team members from editorial, sales, event, and marketing departments.
  • The research associate is tasked with cultivating relationships with senior industry contacts through telephone and email interactions, and, on occasion, through in-person meetings.

The balance of the above tasks, along with other duties, will vary.

The role demands first-rate organisational skills, excellent verbal and written communication and an analytical mind. The ability to focus and a keen eye for detail are essential to ensure that we maintain accuracy and a high quality of output. The research associate also needs to be comfortable with processes and must be thorough in their work.

About You

Experience/knowledge required

This position is ideal for individuals with well-honed written and research abilities, a high degree of self-motivation, strong verbal communication skills, and a grasp of industry dynamics to engage in informed discussions with industry stakeholders. While prior experience in a research role is beneficial, it's not a strict requirement.

The successful candidate should possess excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English and hold a degree. Proficiency in a second language (Spanish, French, German) is considered advantageous. A solid understanding of and interest in financial services is a significant plus. An essential requirement is the capacity to comprehend the intricacies of the private markets industry. Additionally, the role necessitates the ability to work independently while maintaining productive collaborative relationships within a team.
