Job description

We are seeking two researchers to join our team to work across four EU-funded projects, led by Professor Evina Katsou.

Projects Overview
  • StreamSTEP: Focuses on optimizing resource-efficient energy systems in energy-intensive industries (EIIs) by integrating digital tools, real-time environmental monitoring, and life cycle assessments (LCA).
  • SAFELOOP: Aims to enhance safety, sustainability, and performance of European Gigafactory-scale lithium-ion battery (LIB) cells, ensuring compliance with EUCAR Hazard Level 3 standards for mobility applications.
  • CSSBOOST: Develops Circular Systemic Solutions (CSS) within a digital ecosystem for regions and cities.
  • CRONUS: Emphasizes bioenergy innovation with carbon capture and utilization techniques.

The role involves a 50% FTE commitment to two projects simultaneously.

You will develop methodologies for data collection, analysis, and interpretation relevant to project goals. Responsibilities include publishing in refereed journals, presenting at international conferences, and attracting external research funding.

Qualifications and Skills
  • PhD in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science (with a strong computational focus), Computer Science, Data Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C++
  • Experience with LCA tools, preferably Brightway or equivalent
  • Strong background in data management (collection, storage, processing)
  • Ability to conduct detailed literature reviews
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
