Job summary

The University of Glasgow invites applications for a Research Associate to contribute to the ESRC-funded Measuring Renewables Uptake & Value project, working with Professor Nick Bailey and colleagues in the Urban Big Data Centre in the Division of Urban Studies & Social Policy. Job description

The University is looking for a Research Associate to make a leading contribution to the ESRC-funded Measuring Renewables Uptake & Value project, working with Professor Nick Bailey and colleagues in the Urban Big Data Centre in the Division of Urban Studies & Social Policy. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

This project aims to provide better evidence of the uptake of renewable technologies in UK housing and of the varied impact of these on property values. We will create new measures of renewables uptake through a novel combination of property-level datasets. Analysis of variations in progress at local authority and sub-authority levels will provide more detailed knowledge of the barriers and enables of uptake. Linking uptake data to house sales, we will employ a range of modelling techniques, including hedonic and causal machine learning models, to estimate the impact of renewables on house values. We will work closely with a range of stakeholder groups to tailor outputs in ways which maximise their value for policy and practice.
