Job summary

Temple University's College of Liberal Arts Psychology Department is seeking a Research Assistant to support a multi-site study focused on biomarkers and predictors of clinical and behavioral outcomes in at-risk individuals. The position is 100% on-site and involves data collection, interviews, cognitive tasks, and biosample processing.

Under supervision, you will recruit participants, manage data, and assist with a clinical trial. Prior experience in a psychology research lab is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Six months of directly related work experience required.
  • Experience with data management preferred.
  • Experience with mental disorders and vulnerable populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in data collection and management in a multi-site study.

  • Assist in collection of biosamples (EEG, MRI) and processing of samples.

Temple University's College of Liberal Arts Psychology Department is searching for a Research Assistant!

Hourly Rate Range: $15.38 - $19.24

Position Description

Under the supervision of Dr. Ellman and other senior staff, the research assistant will aid in collecting and managing data in a multi-site study aiming to identify biomarkers and associated predictors of clinical and behavioral outcomes in individuals at risk for psychosis and psychiatric comparison groups. The research assistant will be involved in data collection at all time points and will administer semi-structured clinical interviews and cognitive tasks, as well as be involved in the collection of biosamples, including EEG data, MRI data, and processing blood samples (e.g., centrifuging and storing in freezers, although blood will be collected by a phlebotomist).

The research assistant will also be trained to work on our active clinical trial, assist lab staff with daily lab operations, such as recruiting participants, managing data, and supervising undergraduate volunteers. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a psychological research lab.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least six (6) months of directly related work experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working or volunteering with individuals with mental disorders and/or similar vulnerable populations.
  • Experience with data management.
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Experience with MRI, EEG, or psychophysiological assessments.
  • Experience working with clinical populations (for example, clinical interviewing).
Required Skills And Abilities
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use one of the following programs or something comparable: SAS, SPSS, R, Qualtrics, Redcap, Python, and/or STATA.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends.
