Job summary

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant to support a project investigating host-directed therapy and antibiotic potentiation against pathogenic mycobacteria. You will work on in vitro macrophage infection models, cytokine profiling and bacterial genomics in a CL3 environment.

The role demands experience in microbiology, cell culture, immunology, molecular biology or host-pathogen interactions, with CL3 training and Schedule 5/SAPO compliance.

Qualifications

• BSc or equivalent in a biological science.
• MRes, MSc or equivalent in a biological science.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general laboratory operations including media preparation, culture maintenance and autoclaving waste.
• Prepare stock compounds, drugs and reagents.
• Conduct in vitro macrophage infection models and cytokine profiling.
• Perform whole-genome sequencing of bacteria and analyse genomic data.
