Research Assistant in Cardiovascular Physiology and Cerebral Perfusion

Overview

The Christie lab, led by neuroscientist Isabel Christie, focuses on the metabolic regulation of the mammalian brain, particularly gas homeostasis and oxygen regulation, using MRI and two-photon imaging in animal models. The role is a 12-month research assistant position with potential progression to a PhD based on performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Order and track consumables
  • Assist with in vivo physiology and pharmacology experiments
  • Support pre-clinical MRI experiments
  • Prepare pharmacological solutions
  • Handle animals and learn microsurgery skills
  • Perform other duties as required
Person Specification

Applicants should have a BSc in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a related field, and demonstrate interest in PhD studies, hypothesis-driven research, and software proficiency (ImageJ, Matlab, GraphPad Prism, R). Experience with Github, cardiovascular research, and Open Research initiatives is desirable. Diversity and inclusion are valued.
