Job summary

Imperial College London is seeking a Research Assistant to join the O’Regan Lab, contributing to a British Heart Foundation–funded programme on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. You will work at the intersection of cardiac imaging, AI and genetics, integrating 3D imaging with clinical and multi-omic data to elucidate disease heterogeneity and risk.

You will process imaging data, develop models, write reproducible code and present findings at group meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

• Masters (MSc) degree in a biomedical discipline, or equivalent research experience.
• Programming experience in Python and/or R with a sound understanding of statistics and data analysis.
• Careful, well-organised approach to data handling, documentation and reproducibility.
• Clear written and verbal communication, ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Ideally some experience with machine-learning methodology, medical image analysis, or biomedical datasets.

Are you a computationally-minded scientist looking to apply artificial intelligence to help address a major clinical challenge in cardiology?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join the O’Regan Lab and contribute to a British Heart Foundation–funded programme investigating disease mechanisms and precision risk prediction in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). You will work at the intersection of cardiac imaging, artificial intelligence and genetics, integrating 3D imaging with clinical and multi-omic data to help explain why HCM affects patients so differently, and to improve the identification of those most at risk.

What you would be doing

In this role, you will:

This post is based in the Computational Cardiac Imaging Group (O’Regan Lab) at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, Imperial College London.

This is a full-time post and is offered on a fixed-term contract for 24 months. Hybrid working is permitted, but in-person working minimum of 3 days a week.
