Overview

FT Locations, is a division of the Financial Times Ltd, providing insights into globalisation to assist companies and economic development organisations in making informed decisions about foreign direct investment (FDI).

fDi Markets is a leading crossborder inward investment database and investor tracking tool, used by governments and corporations worldwide. It is the exclusive data source for the UNCTAD World Investment Report and the Economist Intelligence Unit.

The Research Assistant will work with the FT Locations team, conducting research on specific regions, identifying companies with FDI projects, and recording information into the fDi Markets database. www.fdimarkets.com
Reporting To: Research Manager

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Research sources to identify inward investment projects
  • Conduct web-based research for additional project information
  • Input and update inward investment projects in the database
  • Develop information sources
  • Identify trends affecting FDI globally for the internal Trend Tracker used by fDi Intelligence
  • Research and update project statuses, relocations, closures, expansions, and colocations
  • Identify potential investment leads
  • Perform ad-hoc research and production tasks
  • Support the sales team with data based on geographical focus
Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • A-Level or higher in business, economics, or data-related subjects
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Organised with good planning and prioritisation skills
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Third-level qualification or higher in relevant subjects
  • Degree with a 2:1 or above in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of additional European or world languages is a plus
  • Understanding of economic globalisation and cross-border investment
  • Experience in online research, database management, or similar roles
  • Analytical and report writing skills
