Job summary

The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research at the University of Cambridge invites applications for a fixed-term Research Assistant in Digital Heritage Documentation as part of the MAEASaM project. The role focuses on supporting the digital data lifecycle, including data collection, validation, and deposition, and coordinating with international partners to ensure FAIR and CARE data.

Qualifications

• First degree in archaeology, heritage, digital humanities, geography/GIS, information or data management, computer science or related field.
• Excellent knowledge of digital data management, metadata standards and FAIR/CARE principles.
• Experience with geospatial datasets and GIS software desirable.

Responsibilities

• Run routine validation and quality-control checks on incoming data using auditing workflows.
• Prepare data for ingestion into the MAEASaM Arches database and contribute to documentation.
• Contribute to development of thesauri and database documentation; assist with data collection and entry.
• Present progress and ensure compliance with the project's Data Management Plan.
