Job Purpose

You will contribute to and lead the EU Horizon project ELLIE: On the Use of Internet of Senses for the CuLturaL HerItagE, working with Dr. Christos Anagnostopoulos in the KDES (Knowledge and Data Engineering Systems) Research Group, School of Computing Science. ELLIE examines the impact of emerging technologies on creative processes, focusing on technological advancements and innovation. Key technologies include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Internet of Senses, and Digital Twins (DTs). The successful candidate will contribute to research publications, proposals, and help manage this complex project.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Perform activities under the guidance of the Principal/Co-Investigator, including:

  1. Planning and conducting research aligned with project deliverables and research strategies.
  2. Documenting research outputs, analyzing data, maintaining records, and drafting reports and papers.
  3. Enhancing research profile through publications, societal impact, and esteem indicators.
  4. Presenting work at conferences and seminars to develop research visibility.
  5. Identifying funding opportunities and developing proposals for research support.
  6. Collaborating with colleagues and participating in research meetings and workshops.
  7. Supervising and mentoring students and less experienced team members.
  8. Managing administrative tasks, including budgets and expenditure.
  9. Engaging in teaching activities and related admin as assigned.
  10. Staying updated on AI, ML, and Digital Twins advancements.
  11. Participating in professional development activities.
  12. Undertaking additional duties as assigned.
  13. Contributing to the university’s international profile in line with strategic goals.

For appointment at grade 7:

  1. Perform duties with greater independence, leadership, and responsibility.
  2. Establish an independent research track record and reputation.
  3. Survey literature, understand research challenges, and develop strategies.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • A1: Honours degree (SCQF Level 10) or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • A2: Knowledge of AI/ML programming and Digital Twins development.
  • A3: Up-to-date knowledge of the subject area.

For Grade 7:

  • A4: PhD (SCQF Level 12) and at least 2 years’ postdoctoral experience or equivalent qualifications.

Desirable:

  • B1: Recent or near-completion PhD in the subject area.
